Re: Turning off DNS Caching
There are a few probable solutions on this page? https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/8160/how-to-clear-dns-cache-on-dd-wrt Do any of them work? Sort of. I think they will work but the issue is I'm not home at the time, so this requires logging into the router and issuing the commands. The manu...

Turning off DNS Caching
I recurring problem I'm having with DNS cacheing. I've had problems over a long time with SafeDNS. It's similar to OpenDNS but has a nice feature that you can switch between profiles based on a schedule, so the school kids don't spend all the time on games and I don't have to keep changing OpenDNS m...

Re: DNS problems with SafeDNS
It seems to be working now though I can't explain why. I think if you make a change, then you need to wait for the cache to clear. There must be some time limit on how long a reference is cached. Once it reaches that limit it starts working.

Re: 1.11.x gargoyle-ispy 2018-July-12 06:01
I've been running for about a week now and I agree. It does seem faster. Speed tests I think are about 4-6% faster than the old version. I can also say that this release is rock solid, no crashes whatsoever but I do only use the basics.ispyisail wrote:1.11.x feels faster on my C7?
Well done to everyone.

Re: 1.11.x gargoyle-ispy 2018-July-12 06:01
Excellent many thanks and if you wouldn't mind, a followup question. I currently run an Archer C7 with 1.10 Gargoyle from ispy a few months ago. It all seems to be working pretty well. However, I am the type of dude who likes to keep up with the latest so am thinking I should upgrade at some point t...

Uh Oh? EoL to my beloved 4300? C'mon ispy! Unless you on dial up (adsl) speed you will notice improvements with bigger CPU. My opinion is the C7 is now the bare minimum and that's getting long in the tooth So if C7 is the bare minimum, what's currently the most powerful router you can buy that will...

Thanks. Got it all sorted, it was a problem with my settings on SafeDNS. It's a very nice service but the setup procedure is screwy. There are settings you need to put a certain way that don't make any sense, but at least it's working now.

DNS problems with SafeDNS
I am attempting to use SafeDNS as my DNS. This DNS has a schedule, so when it reaches a certain time some categories of sites are blocked and others are unblocked. It's a bit like OpenDNS but with a schedule. In the last little while I have been having bad problems with this in that when the time is...

Re: Add SafeDNS to Dynamic DNS list?
Just had a look and did it myself by adjusting the /etc/ddns_providers.conf. It appears to work but I'll test further.

Add SafeDNS to Dynamic DNS list?
Is there any chance to add SafeDNS to the Dynamic DNS service? I believe the string to send to SafeDNS is:
https://[USERNAME]:[PASSWORD]@www.safedns.com/nic/update?hostname=[DOMAIN]
