Re: Rebooting or unplugging router restores default config
If it's too large why is there even a firmware available to download and install? I actually did install 1.5.11 after trying 1.6 and something was not right. I was able to login to the router page but a lot of pages where there was supposed to be information or text, it was just blank. For example t...

Rebooting or unplugging router restores default config
Using a D-link DIR601 A1 router. I updated the firmware from 1.47 to the latest 1.6. Everything looked good except when I rebooted the router from System> Reboot Now, it restored all settings to default. Since I'm using this router as a wireless AP and almost never need to reboot I figured I can liv...

Re: Connection drop
I think you are right about the unstable wireless N mode. I switched to G mode and haven't experienced a drop out yet after uploading numerous large files at 500 Kb/s. This is disappointing. I thought these open source firmwares were supposed to be more stable than the stock router firmware. Do you ...

Re: Connection drop
DoesItMatter: I have a d-link 601 also and Gargoyle 1.4.6 and am experiencing connection drops whenever I upload at higher speeds. I have a 5 Mb upload speed. The connection will drop out for around one minute. After that it connects again. It's very annoying as I'm uploading a several hundred megab...

Re: What's the difference between Gargoyle and OpenWRT?
Does OpenWRT have more advanced firewall options, connection limit options, port triggering, advanced wireless options similar to dd-wrt/tomato? I was mistakenly under the impression that OpenWRT didn't have a GUI and I thought that was the whole reason for Gargoyle. I thought 'front-end' was the sa...

What's the difference between Gargoyle and OpenWRT?
What are the differences between Gargoyle and OpenWRT? I read some of the documentation and it says Gargoyle is basically a front-end for OpenWRT? Does that mean OpenWRT does not have a gui? How do you view the settings you've made for OpenWRT then? Why doesn't OpenWRT have a gui? I also read you ca...

Re: Version 1.5.3 & 1.4.6
There is a security vulnerability present in all versions of Gargoyle. Just navigate to this url:
http://192.168.1.1/bandwidth.csv
Even when you are not logged in, you can download the traffic logs. Not good!
I found this in 1.5.2, but it should be in 1.5.3 as well.

Re: DD-WRT or gargoyle for DIR-601?
Thanks a lot for the help. I was able to flash gargoyle successfully. It seems pretty light on features. Not nearly as many as DD-WRT. Although the QOS in gargoyle looks like it has more options. Do you know of a QOS guide that can help me configure the settings? I want to use the QOS but I don't un...
