Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

good catch @fifonik.

Main difference between Linksys WRT1900AC and Linksys WRT1900ACS. ... While WRT1900ACS has a dual core processor of 1.6 GHz and a RAM of 512 Mbps, the processor in WRT1900AC is 1.2 GHz and a RAM of 256Mbps.

That's a pretty big difference.

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

Thank you very much to everybody who responded. The Wrt 1900ac sounds like it might be a winner. Oliver44, have you tried using Gargoyle's QoS? I'm wondering if you can keep your speed with it turned on? Since your 1GB speed is way faster than my 400mbps, even if the 1900ac lost half, it would be pl...

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

The two linksys routers look interesting.
Would they give me 400+ mbps download speeds even with QoS enabled?

How about the Archer C9?

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

I think Linksys WRT1900 should give you speed close to your limits with QoS turning On (not sure about BW monitoring). With WRT3200 & WRT32X you should be on a safe side. Is Gargoyle available for those modems you listed? I don't see any firmware for the WRT3200 or WRT32x. Unless i'm looking in...

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

haha. That's cool and thanks for posting that. A DIY router is a bit farther than I'm willing to dabble in this stuff. :)

Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?

I posted on here a few months ago about my experiences with Gargoyle on my Archer C7 router. I got a lot of help from knowledgeable people here and It generally worked great with 100/10 speed and Gargoyle 1.10. I couldn't use QoS without severely limiting the speed and ended up being told that that ...

Re: QoS Download Speeds

I think I'll save some money and buy a better router if I want to use Gargoyle. yeah...... I like that Linksys WRT32X you mentioned Lantis was working with. I will need to read up on the top routers when the time comes. It would be nice if money was never important and we didn't have to worry about...

Re: QoS Download Speeds

Just what is QoS suppose to prevent? QoS enforces the rules. When QoS is not working because its not enabled, improperly configured or the CPU is overloaded then the rules are not being enforced uniformly and there is no fairness. You misquoted me. You added an "Is" but I probably wasn't ...

Re: QoS Download Speeds

I'm not going to worry about the cpu. If it dies, it dies. :) Its not your router that you should be worried about. Its the unstable internet speeds that will result. Now i'm confused again. You mean lag, not speed, right? Just what QoS is supposed to prevent? I've never noticed a speed loss when d...

Re: QoS Download Speeds

When downloading large files my router's cpu load has probably always been quite high. Is it best to always keep it under 1.00? yes The problems started when people started getting fiber connections xDSL connections Gargoyle worked perfect I get it now. I didn't think 100/10 speeds were considered ...
