Re: Version 1.5.8 - USB Storage with FTP

I heard OpenWRT uses sch_codel and/or sch_fq_codel (a queuing discipline designed to combat buffer bloat) for its QoS functions. Does Gargoyle also use CoDel? I'm using the Netgear WNDR3700v2 with this current version of Gargoyle. Fwiw, I've tested my buffer bloat using the Netalyzer analysis tool, ...

Re: DMZ and UPNP together

Is there actually any reason to run both DMZ and UPnP at the same time? If your device is on a DMZ, that would mean all your ports are already being forwarded to said device right? Thus, why would you need UPnP to open up anything? What's strange is that I have my Playstation 3 console manually set ...

Re: WAN led to be amber ?

I would like an official response or clarification from the developers on this issue. I have always been under the impression that orange/amber LED means a slower 10/100mbps ethernet link, whereas green means a gigabit or 1000mbps link, on the Netgear WNDR3700 (and other routers in general). Despite...

Netgear WNDR3700 V2 LED is orange/amber--Not Gigabit?

Hi. I am currently running the Motorola SB6120 cable modem via gigabit ethernet connection to the WAN port of my Netgear WNDR3700 v2. I am using a 5ft CAT6 patch cable. However, I am seemingly not getting a gigabit or 1000mbps connection using this current setup. I am getting an orange/amber LED ind...

Re: Min/Max Bandwidth in QoS Clarification

Thanks for the clarification. On a related note about QoS, I am trying to classify all Skype-to-Skype calls to the Voip class. Do you recommend that I resort to L7-protocol matching to inspect and classify all Skype packets? From some of the information I've read, matching by L7 protocol can be very...

Min/Max Bandwidth in QoS Clarification

Hello. I'd like a little bit of clarification regarding how the minimum and maximum bandwidth parameters work. I see that the preset Voip Service Class has a default minimum download bandwidth of 80 kbps. If I were to assign three devices to this Voip Service Class, does that mean that each of those...

Re: Prioritizing Upload Over Download, & Upload %...

Well, the rationale behind other QoS guides telling you to set your bandwidth to ~80% of what you usually get is because one's internet connection can vary in bandwidth depending on varying conditions--such as peak usage hours, or ISP slowdown. Thus, it's a good idea to set your max bandwidth to ~80...

Prioritizing Upload Over Download, & Upload %...

A couple questions about QoS that I would appreciate clarification on: 1) Is there any way to prioritize and Upload class over a Download class, or vice versa? I'd like to tweak QoS to be as optimal as possible for use in online gaming, and I was wondering if such a choice were possible (or does it ...

Re: I disable UPNP on PS3, but UPNP entry appears anyway?

Hmm, in my old DD-WRT router that I used for years, my PS3 also had UPNP turned off, and I never recalled DD-WRT reporting any false/unwanted UPNP requests or entries.

I did update my PS3 firmware just yesterday (4.21), but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it.

I disable UPNP on PS3, but UPNP entry appears anyway?

I have a PS3 game console, and set it to a static IP of 192.168.1.100. I also have it placed in the DMZ, for what it's worth. I disabled UPNP in my PS3 networking settings. However, despite UPNP being manually disabled on the PS3 console, an entry for UPNP still appears in the Gargoyle interface, re...
