Gargoyle as Access Point
Hello all. Welcome to 2020. I've just set up a WRT1200ac as an AP and Switch with WAN connected to main router. DHCP is Disabled on the AP with the main router providing DHCP and DNS. Strangely, if I restart the AP, I notice that DHCP is Enabled again. Is this a bug or default behaviour? Using 1.12....

Re: Version 1.12.0 : New stable version
Upgraded my WRT1200ac preserving settings. Couldn't understand why my FTP transfers were slow although streaming Amazon movies was fine. Did a speed test to find my up and download speeds were way down from the normal 38/8 to 8/2. Checked my router settings, to find my QOS was enabled. I disabled QO...

Re: WRT1200AC configuration restore fails
Doh! was trying to use the config restore instead of the firmware upload page. Well it was a long night yesterday and only had 5 hours sleep. That's my excuse anyway.

Re: WR-1043ND V2 wifi problems?
A bit late with an answer. Max download with the broadband I have is 40Mbit. That's the highest my broadband will go, unless I upgrade to 1Gbit that passes my front door.

Re: WRT1200AC configuration restore fails
Well bugger me. it's done it again. Been running 1.11.0 fine also with OpenVPN for months. Yesterday, I decided to close down the direct open ports for various things, and use OpenVPN to access the LAN. I disabled and removed two open ports, saved the config and checked. Ohhh great scot. Only half o...

Re: VPN Server
Ah, OK. Sounds good. trying to watch UK TV streams whilst out the country but not in UK/EU area. so Geo blocked. Have tried Winscribe VPN, which is great with the 10GB monthly free allowance, but VPN blocked by iplayer. TVcatchup works OK, but i'm struggling with buffering due to, no doubt, congesti...

VPN Server
Excuse a stupid question. If I run a VPN server, do I get the use of normal access and VPN access, or is the router completely bound to VPN only access to LAN equipment? Can I dedicate a Network port to VPN, and the rest Non VPN or are they all bound to VPN use? What I want to do, is come in on a VP...

Re: WRT1200 help needed.
It crossed my mind about the firmware switching over. Pity there is no indication by LED, which one is in use. What I might do when she's there, is to whatsapp me a video of the startup light sequence, but there is little coverage in the comms location. I suppose a redundant LED could be enabled to ...

Re: WRT1200 help needed.
Thanks the reply. She assured me it was only a second. Either way, nothing can be done, so servers and other systems are down for the next three weeks or so. Don't completely follow why the BB would have wiped the config or firmware as it's so easy to fumble. Would have thought the reset button woul...
