Password too long?
I was having trouble reliably gaining admin access with 16 character password.

Re: Getting around the Restrictions
Oops. Silly me. The ability to block ports or "All ports except" is already built in Firewall Restrictions. Blocking all ports except 53, 80 and 443 did stop Hotspot Shield being activated. However it also prevented me from going to all the websites I tried. Next I tried setting restrictio...

Re: shared adsl metering per ip
... or go damn SLOOOOOW. Note that gargoyle interrupts the connection once the quota is reached (ie. the device gets 0 kb/s). Eric is working on implementing the abililty to throttle speed once quota has been reached (see here ) but at the moment you would need to provide a separate slow speed netw...

Getting around the Restrictions
Although the Firewall Restriction features currently built into Gargoyle are great they can easily be circumvented by VPN products such as Hotspot Shield. If you can do a bit of coding you could use iptables to shut down all but a couple of ports to prevent VPN but you would likely wreck the way the...

BTW I think having just one ethernet port on your pre-loaded router is a wise move. It makes it much easier to support.

Re: Getting Around the Quota
Oh, I overlooked the fact that it is still possible to purchase desktop PCs without a wireless card. Thanks for clarifying the situation regarding Lena. You can setup ap+client (similar to a repeater, but routed instead of bridged) with different encryption though. Could you please clarify this stat...

Re: Getting Around the Quota
Eric: Congradulations on putting your pre-loaded routers up for sale. You mentioned that Lena uses a bridged router to connect to a AP router. I seem to remember reading somewhere that an AP and a bridge can have different passwords (encryption). Have I got this right? Could you explain how this can...

Port triggering?
The future linking Quotas and usernames were mentioned here . Since the dynamic IP allocation would be needed for this it seems to me that Port triggering would become a particularly useful once usernames are introduced. Is Port triggering on the todo list? If so, should we expect it's introduction ...

Re: Getting Around the Quota
Oh. I was under the impression that under WPA2 RADIUS each connection had different encryption. Thanks for educating me......again.
