skynetbbs: I think it would be really annoying to have to reconfigure the router all over again just because you forgot the password.
I think configuration files would be best handled separately as described here: http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... 3584#p3584

Re: Feature Request: Updates without flashing
OpenWrt does have a new "sysupgrade" feature, that does re-flash, but saves the configuration files in RAM, and then copies them back. So the router does get re-flashed, but the configuration files are preserved. I could certainly implement something similar ... Wouldn't it be more flexib...

Reset Button Not Working?
The reset button doesn't appear to work.
This is essential for resetting the password to "password" in the event the custom password is forgotten.
Are there any plans to support reset button function?

Re: Suggested Feature: Blocked Pages Notification
Here is an example of a notification produced by OpenDNS: http://block.opendns.com/main?url=8888881584708915688078&ablock= Here is an example of the sort of page I had in mind for Gargoyle: This domain is blocked. Site blocked by Sunkids using the Gargoyle router. "www.dating.com" is n...

Re: Suggested Feature: Blocked Pages Notification
Micki: I appreciate your comment but the reality of it is that most users are pre-occupied with the quantity rather than the quality of what they access.
I was just hoping that after a year perhaps the quality side of things could get some attention.

... It may be possible to redo the way I'm filtering websites by re-writing DNS rules, though this means you can only match domain and not the path (though 99% of the time we just care about the domain anyway...). ... Let's just say it's on my to-do list (which is quickly approaching the length of ...

Re: Suggestion: Quota improvement
Thanks for your comments. I sometimes forget that many of the viewers of this site would have public service applications such as yours in mind. I concur with you that blocking certain sites in a situation such as yours would just be too controversial. The feature I've suggested would only really su...

Re: Suggestion: Quota improvement
... I'm going to add the ability to re-classify traffic into a specific QoS class when a quota is reached instead of cutting off traffic entirely. So, you can setup a QoS class for "over limit users", that has strict limits so they get service but service that is much, much slower than wha...

Re: L7 Protocol Enhancement
I'll thinking it would be useful to persue my initial quest to discover the Google SafeSearch pattern. Why? As I've stated my goal is to provide an information only network that is safe for kids where all data is transmitted "in the clear" (ie. as cleartext). In another post I describe how...

Re: L7 Protocol Enhancement
After playing around with Wireshark for a bit I decided to pull the plug on my Safe Search project. I'll just use http://www.safesearchkids.com/index.html and set the webiste/URL Firewall Restrictions accordingly.
