Re: Is OpenVPN right for this?
So I guess I have to disable a web server port, but not sure where to find this. What would I need to do, and will disabling this still allow me to log in through a web browser to configure the router? https://www.dropbox.com/s/fq76gzhlmgm6ec5/gargoyle%20https.jpg?raw=1 System - Router Access chang...

Re: Is OpenVPN right for this?
Pretty much what I do. Note especially on the default port it's an easy target to block. I set up the VPN originally on my NAS when the various WiFi bugs surfaced and I was using airport WiFi a lot. As mentioned earlier switch to Port 443 and also to TCP if you have issues with the more sophisticate...

Re: 5GHz WiFi & Dell Lattitude
A follow up as I've done a bit more digging, don't have a full solution per se more of a partial / workaround. The Dell laptop connects everywhere I've been and to my second AP which is a ISP D-Link device (DIR-850L) which is only used to extend the WiFI in the bedrooms. The issue appears to be 40Mh...

Re: using wireshark with Gargoyle
OK I have now setup extroot and I can install tcpdump BUT all the plugins now report insufficient disk space and I can't install adblock. Is this a known bug? EDIT: I have manually added Teffalump's original adblock script and all appears to be well but if I could have done this better then please ...

Re: SSH issues
Sorry yes Mea Culpa, no idea why I did that, it's not like I haven't logged in before via SSH. Damn, what an idiot...Lantis wrote:Am I reading your logs wrong, or are you trying to ssh as “admin”?
You might want to try “root” instead.

Gargoyle 1.10
Everything else I have is connecting okay, I really think it is a Dell issue. I only raised it in case anyone else sees the same thing and either has or is searching for a solution. It's not a Windows issue per se, I have an fairly old HP laptop with Win10 which connects fine.

Re: Open VPN Warning about MD5 signing
I think it is just the signing of the TA.key that is being warned about not the actual encryption in use. https://www.dropbox.com/s/v1iiakl9ag783j3/vpn-config.png?raw=1 There's info here http://ics-openvpn.blinkt.de/FAQ.html on the changes FWIW I have another VPN on my synology NAS, just checked tha...
