Re: WNDR3700v4 Wireless Dropouts *UPDATE*

Just though I'd give a quick update, I was on the stock build of 1.12 and still getting dropouts with the wireless. Still able to restore it by issuing "wifi up" in the console but was looking for a longer-term fix. I couldn't get my head round the scripting to use ping watchdog There's no scriptin...

Re: WNDR3700v4 Wireless Dropouts *UPDATE*

You could install the ping watchdog and use it to automatically restart wifi in case the router detects loss of connection to a wifi peer.

So no, mine is stable. But it's being used as Wireless Repeater only, so it has very minor load.

Re: 1.12.0.x gargoyle-ispy 2020-March-02 06

Installed on a (previously) spare TL-WR1043ND V1, running as AP and wireless repeater. No problems so far.

Seeding the torrent, too :D

Re: logread shows many entries uhttpd[3040]: sh: write error: Broken pipe

Where does the broken pipe message originate? Would it be feasible to change that piece of code in a way to print this message only with a higher than standard log level?

Re: logread shows many entries uhttpd[3040]: sh: write error: Broken pipe

It's fine. It means there is some code that could be cleaned up or rewritten, but it is not doing anything harmful or unexpected. Other than spamming the logfile with bogus entries, deleting older, but probably more interesting ones prematurely. My definition of "not harmful" seems to be slightly d...

Re: LAN connection

I'm not sure I follow you. The data used by clients on the extender is relevant to me because I'm on a metered network (data cap). I don't have any problem identifying and measuring data usage of clients connected to the gargoyle router wifi, but I want to do the same for clients using the extender...

Re: LAN connection

I added a Netgear Extender to the Gargoyle router, connected to the LAN port, and I want to measure data usage, but it doesn't even appear to be a connected host. Is that only possible for wireless hosts? Does the extender use data by itself? I guess not, so the only data you will see is data of cl...

Yes, it does both. I've had it running for ages, first on a 1043ND and now on the Archer C5 v1.2.
