@ispyisail it looks like my isp is blocking port forwarding so I think that is where my problem lies

Yeah the fact gargoyle was working perfectly prior to the nbn had me wondering. Having the same issue with the pi vpn setup has kind of confirmed it for me as an nbn or service provider problem. I can try draw a diagram for you when I get home but my set up is quite simple - nbn box (modem) - router...

I had a raspberry pi so I have gone down the path of PiVPN but still can't connect from outside the network. If I change the OVPN file to the internal address of PiVPN I am able to connect. It seems like I might have some firewall issue somewhere.

you also need to setup "Dynamic DNS" to get around floating IP address. https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=dynamic_dns_services I've just tried using a dynamic DNS now as well and I'm still not able to connect. I don't know if changing from ADSL 2 to the NBN and not requirin...
