hi, Non techie & only doing this (installing router firmware) annually, + not wanting to repeat recent debacle with linksys EA8500/blow $250, searched wrt1900 gargoyle install guide, couldn't find one specifically for wrt1900... But did find this which I assume is similar... https://forum.dd-wrt...

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?
Thanks Pythonic, oops, yes. I didn't look very hard.
I 'feel' more comfortable with the wrt1900acs and expect this to be my last modem for a few years.
Got the budget lifted without much drama.
Appreciate your advice,
cheers Adrian

just checking - 'best' router wrt1900acs ?
wndr3800 died from heat exhaustion
though I'd prefer to keep <$200au unfortunately no longer so much choice...
$250ish for linksys wrt1900acs appears a 'safer' choice than $320 for wrt32x
greatly appreciate opinion of more knowledgable users please
thanks!
Adrian

Re: Recommend a new router for Gargoyle?
Our wndr3800 got too hot over several years - it had been mounted on its side against a cabinet - and now resets every 2-3 minutes. If you have one I suggested you keep it cool. Looking for a router to replace wndr3800 running gargoyle. A linksys ea8500 (placed in the front of the house) is lan brid...

demanding teenagers... seeking speed
Thanks for advice from previous thread... This may be a bit worn for some... I muddle along with networking and modems, no-one else in my home is the least bit interested, but they have eyeroll, "Dad, the internet's too slow" downpat. Current setup is wndr3800 flashed with 1.11.0 as gatewa...
