Re: Gargoyle QoS Revised

Been a while since my last post, but I wanted to get this out there: gargoyle's qos implementation has been the primary reason I use the firmware. It is the only solution I have ever found that just completely works for my 3 people appartment, everybody is happy and I haven't had any "the inter...

Re: L7 Protocol Enhancement

I bet there are alot of people who use the pattern matching, but not too many that have experience and knowledge which work, and which don't. :) I have used several gaming related patterns in the past, and they work very good, but I don't think it is necessary to add them all into the default instal...

Re: Upload QoS not starting with PPPoE

Hm, I copied from svn/trunk the files: qos_gargoyle.init -> /etc/init.d/qos_gargoyle qos_gargoyle.hotplug -> /etc/hotplug.d/iface/10-qos_gargoyle (with a chmod +x on hte file for good measure) and rebooted. Now, when I check the webinterface and go to Status/QOS Distribution - I only see data for th...

Re: Upload QoS not starting with PPPoE

Any chance to hotfix this by downloading the changed files from svn - or did too much change ?

Re: New qos performing worse

Thanks for clarifying that, always good to know how things work exactly when playing with the parameters, makes it less of a guessing game :) I have now downloaded and installed your new qos script, and one thing I noticed right away is that now my youtube stream seems to work alot better. I still h...

Re: New qos performing worse

Ah, your suggestion of trying to put my slow class to 1% seems to have helped here, it now barely has enough speed to keep the stream alive. Interestingly still lower streaming download speeds than with no download in the background, but this seems ok for my purposes.

Re: New qos performing worse

Hm, though my explanation of the colors would suffice, but I agree that I maybe had too much text ;) Blue: fast class (video) Red: slow class (download) My complete bandwidth is 5100kbit - I determined this through several online speedtests and the fact that I can pretty much max out my line with th...

Re: New qos performing worse

Hi pbix - thanks for helping me out. I have gone through my settings again, reudjusted them a bit and have gotten better results now since I had a wrong value for my total bandwidth when I first posted this, although not quite where I want it to be yet - but maybe you can give me some pointers on th...

New qos performing worse

Hi, I am having some problems configuring the new qos system do work as good for me as the old one did. One of my main usages was to limit download and upload transfers to certain ports to a slow class, so that if I watch youtube or other stremaing content, it gets immediately throttled to very low ...

Re: PPPoE WAN bug?

Ok, I just installed the firmware and tested it. Now, what seems to work is that after a reboot, the pppd daemon connects again - but what I did notice is that it takes a very long time until my connected PC's get an outside connection to the itnernet again. Here is the output of logread after the b...
