I understand the need for a ttl converter when connecting my routers serial port to a pc, but is it necessary when connecting to viewsat stb from the 3800's serial port? It is ttl 3.3v. very easy install with stock firmware. 1.6.2,then did upgrade, up and running.wndr3800. Reverted factory firmware backward to v1.0.0.16 first. All that reading and worry, all the questions. (no-one answered
) Thanks for a great product. Very satisfied so far.

open wrt on 3800
is it true that the factory firmware on this router must be restored to v1.0.0.16 or earlier, as the later firmware will not allow anything but factory upgrades? I want to install gargoyle on top of open wrt but am not sure of which of the two files to use. Also can openwrt and gargoyle be installed...
