Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
Download correct factory firmware from TP-Link. Google dd for windows, and download that. Then in a command prompt you type dd if= orig.bin of= tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512 obviously stating the name of the factory image as if= and under whatever name you want to store the stripped file as of= Easiest...

Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
The router has now been running successfully for several weeks on the factory firmware. Only once did it drop the connection and I could easily get it back through the router's web interface using the connect / disconnect button. To me this strongly suggests that there is a problem with the Gargoyle...

Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
Update: I have now tried all that I can think of getting Gargoyle reliably to work on the TP-Link 1043nd to no avail. I have now reverted to factory firmware and will find out whether it is a hardware problem or Gargoyle problem. Following has been tried: - 5 metre network cable between modem and ro...

Re: Please HELP: Revert TP-Link WR1043 v2.1 to OEM firmware
Just thought that I finally had the courage to manipulate the TP-Link firmware image to remove the boot loader, and re-flashed it using the Gargoyle web interface. After some moments of panic when I couldn't access it under normal router ip address, I tried the tplinklogin.net and that worked. So: a...

Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
Am reading a lot about setting up DMZ, disabling NAT on the modem and the like. I am no networking expert, so not sure whether that might work or what security holes that'll open up. Any advise on this?

Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
Hi pbix, thanks for your reply! Pretty sure its not the ISP for 2 reasons: (1) my old router/modem (Dynalink RTA1025W) works with no problem; (2) when I wire straight into modem after router failed, I got internet. PPPoA is the only thing that my ISP (Vodafone NZ over wholesale network) offers me if...

Please HELP: Revert TP-Link WR1043 v2.1 to OEM firmware
I need help reverting my WR1043ND v2.1 from Gargoyle 1.6 back to TP-Link firmware. I tried the firmware image for the router from TP-Link website, but Gargoyle web interface does not take it, saying that it has a boot loader. Naturally, TP-Link does not want / cannot help; I already asked their supp...

Re: TP-Link WR1043nd v2.1 drops internet connection
After another week and going through 3 more network cables, I believe there is still some problem with my set-up. Sometimes, router works flawless for a day or 2, but I never got more than this out of one network cable that connects the router WAN port to the modem. Any help will be appreciated!!! I...
