Help needed explaining drastic speed loss when using two gargoyle routers

OK here's a strange one. Two linked gargoyle routers. Router 1 is upstream and configured as an client to a wifi network as its WAN. Router 1 is connected to router 2 via an ethernet cable Router 2 is downstream and configured as an access point serving out wifi to various clients I’ve used this con...

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

you could try installing ping wotchdog and wen pings fail to mane router set it to run script. That is true. However problem with that approach is that if the upstream connection is intermittent, then a failure in the upstream connection would result in the router going into DHCP (wired) mode, thus...

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

I've found another workaround to this problem on my HooToo Tripmate TM02, thanks to the helpful people at the OpenWrt forum. Add to /etc/config/system : config button 'clear_wlan_button' option button 'reset' option action 'released' option handler 'logger clear_wlan ; /usr/lib/gargoyle/clear_wlan....

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

OK, worked out a workaround to do this if anyone else needs it Only problem is, you need two routers. But one could be that old slow router you have lying around with no other use I guess So the problem is a bug/feature in Gargoyle means that when using the router downstream configured as a gateway ...

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

Does anyone know of any other way to achieve this with Gargoyle, I think it may be possible with openwrt and if it is there must be someway to make it happen with gargoyle Just to be clear, this is about ensuring that an AP remains up, broadcasting a SSID and allowing clients to connect, regardless ...

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

Does the AP go down or does the AP just not serve IP addresses? The second behaviour is completely expected. I'm not sure about the first. It sounds right though. It's just how bridging networks work. Not sure, the router remains up and working, but it stops broadcasting the SSID so whether that me...

Re: [Request] improvement to wireless AP+Client mode

I've seen this with 1.5.10 on a TL-WR941ND V5 running as WR841ND V8. It was used as wireless bridge/repeater with different SSIDs for host and client side. Once I replaced the Wifi uplink with a LAN cable (connecting the LAN ports of the upstream router and the WR941) and disabled Wifi on the upstr...

Re: semi-bricked WR941ND v3.6, help wanted

So router is a TL-WR941ND v3.6 Connecting to it via a windows 7 PC In normal mode with a ethernet cable plugged in to yellow lan port it can be pinged on 192.168.1.1. It can be logged into via ssh. But is not broadcasting a wireless SSID so can’t be connected to via wireless. And there is no GUI on ...
