Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x BETA - 2024-11-13 - Based on OpenWrt 23.05

Well, enabling swap allowed the router to boot fully. I had to exchange the USB card reader for a better one, but then it came right up. Don't know if it will run stable this way. It shouldn't really need swap, as the amount it's using is roughly the same as what's free in physical memory. I won't u...

Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x BETA - 2024-11-13 - Based on OpenWrt 23.05

The router seems to be booting normally, but never finishes. Some time later, the LEDs stop flashing and the system seems to have killed itself in an attempt to free up some RAM. Would it be possible to add swap on an USB stick to circumvent this? root@Gargoyle:/# firstboot [ 396.914155] br-lan: por...

Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x BETA - 2024-11-13 - Based on OpenWrt 23.05

Trying to install the latest BETA on my old TL-WR1043ND V1.1, and running into trouble. Updating from the web interface or via SSH and sysupgrade /tmp/gargoyle_1.15.x-ath79-generic-tplink_tl-wr1043nd-v1-20241113-sysupgrade.bin didn't work at all. Flashing the firmware via mtd -r write /tmp/gargoyle_...

Re: Noob fast start advice

From viewtopic.php?t=17920 I gather the GLiNet Flint 2 (aka MT6000) should be fine. Probably this one: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B0CP7S3117

Thank you, this did the trick. spectrum analyser is working, so wifi should be okay. Mission accomplished, spare router updated and ready for use (storage) again :ugeek:

Re: Gargoyle 1.15.x BETA - 2024-03-11 - Based on OpenWrt 23.05

Just installed it on my spare Archer C7 V2. Seems to be running just fine without further configuration. Wifi untested.

Where to point the plugin source? Default is

Code: Select all

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/packages/gargoyle-1.16/ath79/default
which doesn't seem to be populated yet.

Re: Gargoyle on Ubiquiti Nano HD?

The file with "sysupgrade" in the name is for upgrading a router that's already running a Gargoyle or OpenWRT. The other one should be the one needed for flashing from stock to Gargoyle.

Re: WDS/Client Bridge on dual band device

5 years later, this topic is still relevant. Would it be possible with the current version of Gargoyle (1.14), either in the GUI or via command line? Wireless Client/Repeater in the same subnet, that is, and using 5GHz on the Wireless Client connection but both bands on the Repeater side. Archer C7 ...

Re: Version 1.14.0: Based on OpenWrt 22.03

Too bad :-( The router is doing AP duty and I was hoping to activate the guest network to improve coverage. And that functionality has just become available in 1.14. Some more info. To me, ot looks like there should still be a couple MB free once it crashes. What does cause the memory overrun anyway...

Re: Version 1.14.0: Based on OpenWrt 22.03

Trying to install on my old TL-WR1043ND V1 without preserving settings failed badly. The router ran into a boot loop, had to connect the serial cable to recover. Flashed back to 1.13.0, got back into the GUI and tried again (immediately after setting the password). Upload of the 1.14.0 sysupgrade fi...
