Re: NBN Superfast on Gargoyle
I hate to throw shade on your WRT1900AC but I just decommissioned mine after struggling with it for about 6 months. I could not make the Wifi stable. There are issues with the wifi driver that are not going to be resolved over in OpenWRT land as the chip manufacturer has not provided the open source...

Re: WNDR3700v5
Looks like this router has been support now since OpenWRT 18.06.00.
Any plans to add it to Gargoyle?

Re: Manual Ping Limit QoS not working as expected
The real-time limit is measured on your link when qosmon initializes. If forces the link to be idle during this measurement. The results will be different every time it is measured because that's life. If your pings are inherently unstable then it could be more different every time its measured. The...

Re: just checking - 'best' router wrt1900acs ?
I recently installed the WRT1900ACv2 after having trouble with my WDR3600. Its a big upgrade. If your WDNR3800 was performing good before it died then the WRT1900AC will work very nicely for you. I would not hesitate to save the $.

Re: OpenVPN Install Errors on WDR3600 V1.5
For the record I was not trying to preserve settings. This was a clean flash. But I will say that the reason I was flashing is that this router just out of the blue started having reliability issues. I wish there was a way to check if the flash and RAM where all OK. So mysteries abound. Anyway I tho...

OpenVPN Install Errors on WDR3600 V1.5
I recently reloaded this router with Gargoyle v1.12.0 downloaded from the site. I then attempted to install OpenVPN. Flash on this router is tight but it said it would fit and afterwards apparently successful install claimed I had 64kB of flash remaining. However I see the following in my logread th...

Re: Turned on QoS and gasped!?!
I would not like to see a default that was higher than the router's actual throughput capability with QoS on. As we know that capability varies widely with router model. If someone wants to take a position that the lowest performance "supported" model is something higher I'm OK with that n...

Re: demanding teenagers... seeking speed
You did not mention your ISP speed.
What evidence is there that a new Router will change anything?
The router you have is pretty good.

Re: Optimizing QoS for speed
At the moment the tc divisor used is 256. When I increase this to 512 (for both up and down), lo and behold, the speed is almost identical as without QoS (just 1-2 mbit difference, which is OK). I made a test of this and cannot find any measurable difference in speed caused by changing the tc divis...

Re: Found a way to break QOS?
I can't, that's why I asked if 1.10 had a similar setting. 1.11 runs heavy and unstable on my aging device, especially with some additional services enabled (like adblocking), which I consider to be essential. Hmm. Sounds like you need a new device. You can find the overhead variable in your init.d...
