Re: Wireless Repeater Woes

Yeah I am using a WRT54G-TM. You have my sympathy on the proprietary driver. Whats your opinion on the scan sensitivity issue that I mentioned? There are some notes in the DD-WRT Wiki http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge about trying to use a common SSID in repeater mode. Maybe you s...

Re: disabling QOS

To confirm if your QOS is disables you can login into your router using SSH and type the command line "iptables -t mangle -vnL"

The mangle tables should not have the qos scripts listed.

What is the speed issue that concerns you?

Wireless Repeater Woes

I have had occasion recently to try the Gargoyle wireless repeater function. After many hours of working with it I have had limited success. The first this I want to mention is that the "SCAN" function on the Connection->Basic screen does not seem very sensitive. My laptop can see a dozen ...

Re: Suggestions/Observations

On A) above it would be cool also to list the QoS classification of the connection. One more column I know but would be helpful in ensuring that connections are properly classified.

Re: Gargoyle Raw Performance

Interesting results DoesItMatter. It seems your Fonera box is very much slower than the WRT54G.

But it also is interesting to me that your upload / download speeds are the same. There is a significant difference on my setup.

Eric,
Any ideas why the bandwidth is not asymmetric?

Re: Gargoyle Raw Performance

Ok but I used two computers in my house to do this testing. Using your ISP will most likely affect your results and not show the true performance of the router and give confusing results due to issues like you mentioned. Instead I recommend you copy a large file from one computer to another. One com...

Re: Torrent downloader

I know someone who runs rtorrent on his router. The router has a connected USB hard disk that stores the data. A way cool application for OpenWRT on a router.

Re: Gargoyle Raw Performance

In the results I shared above QoS was off on all platforms and no special services running. Service would not affect the results anyway unless they consume bandwidth or CPU time. I also tried disabling the Gargoyle bandwidth monitor by running "iptables -t mangle -F" to remove all chains f...

Gargoyle Raw Performance

Over the last few days I took some measurements of the raw performance I can achieve on my 200Mhz broadcom router under Gargoyle and a few other software packages. Downloading speed (WAN -> LAN) Gargoyle 3600 KiB/sec CoovaAP (based on whiterussian): 3600 KiB/sec DD-WRT v24SP2 4300KiB/sec The upload ...

Mozilla Parsing Warnings

Eric,
Not sure you are aware that there are several "warnings" resulting from your common.css file in under Mozilla 3.5.2 under XP.
