Re: Which would you recommend? WRT54G v2 or WRT54GS v1

Thanks so much for the helpful advise! I found a Linksys WRT54GS v2 with DD-WRT v24 on eBay and one it for $39 + 12.99 shipping, and it works great. So far, the DD-WRT software is working fine for me; using the router as a repeater was a requirement, and that works great. Not to change the course o...

Re: Which would you recommend? WRT54G v2 or WRT54GS v1

I think you should go with atheros chipset Engenius EOC-1650 EOC-2610 etc Ubiquiti PicoStation2HP etc More power, bigger range, more features The Ubiquity PicoStation 2HP only has an Atheros MIPS 4KC, 180 MHz 32MB RAM, 8MB Flash and 1 x 10/100 Ethernet port. So other than size of the unit, it's not...

Re: Which would you recommend? WRT54G v2 or WRT54GS v1

I would like the GS better for the larger flash and ram. It gives you more options. On eBay there's the WRT54G-TM it's the T-Mobile edition more info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G-TM#WRT54G-TM It is essentially a WRT54GS v3.0 it needs a special CFE flash first wia the web interface of the...

Re: Is there a package install page?

Yeah, this is actually intentional. The vast majority of packages require command-line configuration, so it's kind of pointless to install them via the browser if you're going to have to login via the command line to configure them anyway. The packages that can be configured via the GUI are already...

Re: Critical vulnerability in DD-WRT, also in OpenWRT?

Ummm... wow. Just wow. That's... special. You mean instead of patching the http server daemon, they're just blocking http requests that meet the criteria? Besides being an ugly hack, that leaves the vulnerability wide open if you try connecting via https... I don't have a dd-wrt installation, but i...

Re: Critical vulnerability in DD-WRT, also in OpenWRT?

This was fixed with a iptables rule, not too difficult. insmod ipt_webstr ln -s /dev/null /tmp/exec.tmp iptables -D INPUT -p tcp -m tcp -m webstr --url cgi-bin -j REJECT --reject-with tcp-reset iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m tcp -m webstr --url cgi-bin -j REJECT --reject-with tcp-reset http://192.168.1...

Is there a package install page?

I can't seem to find the package installation page similar to the one X-Wrt has. Or is it left out intentionally? I figured I could add packages for additional functionality. I guess I could use ssh to and "opkg install" for the one's I want.

Re: Support for Atheros 71XX

This is great news. The WRT160NL maybe a candidate for a Gargoyle install then I take it? I'm watching development in all the major firmware forums for that. :D

I just installed Gargoyle on a WRT54G v2.2.

I am a long time user of DD-WRT and OpenWrt/X-Wrt and I have to say I am very pleased with the installation and ease of user so far. I also have to say the ability to turn on the wlan interface via the web GUI is very cool. I didn't have to do it via vi in CLI. Not that I mind that but it's just a q...
