Ah, OK... So it does nothing to impede performance in anyway? It's safe to increase the amount? What should I increase it to? I've been having trouble googling to find a guide - is it merely trial and error?

Just updated my TP-Link WDR4300 from 1.5.9 to 1.5.10, with "Preserve settings" checked. Everything is fine!

Successfully flashed a TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1.1 from its stock firmware to Gargoyle 1.5.8 using the gargoyle_1.5.8-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-factory.bin file and the *stock firmware update page*.
