Re: firewall access restrictions failing

Ok. I will check also when I upgrade to Beta5 and will report my findings.

Re: firewall access restrictions failing

Here is more information on the issue.

I found that adding a new entry for "Static IPs" and saving changes will remove the firewall restrictions. A subsequent power cycle will put the firewall restrictions back in place.

Re: firewall access restrictions failing

I cannot say for sure if both of my rules are failing. This is because the other rule is specific to a particular set of IPs (two actually covering both of my daughters computers) and I have not taken the time to verify that her access to facebook is turned off by 11:00 PM or not. So it is unknown i...

Re: firewall access restrictions failing

As a followup. I attempted to edit both of my rules without really changing anything just so they could both be saved once again. After doing this, the restriction rules still failed to function. I then powered down the router and turned it back on. After the router was ready, the rules now function...

Re: firewall access restrictions failing

I purchased the ASUS WL-500gp V2 router based on your collective help in recommending a good choice previously. I chose this router in part because it had more available memory to work with. About the failure: The rules were still visible on the configuration page; nothing seemed wrong in this regar...

Re: using opendns - how

I have entered the IP addresses for OpenDNS in the areas described. When I then attempt to create an OpenDNS account (which is optional) their website tells me that I have not yet set my router to utilize their name server. In short, I have entered the two OpenDNS name server IP address in the only ...

firewall access restrictions failing

To my surprise (and horror) I found that the firewall access restrictions seem to 'turn off' for some reason. When I first set up an access restriction rule, it seemed to be working in that the visited page did not show within the web browser; it was simply blank. A few days later I tried it again a...

using opendns - how

I want to give OpenDNS a try in hopes of restricting adult sites from mistakenly being exposed to my children. The only place I see to enter a IP addresses for DNS within Gargoyle is under the Connection->Basic page in the Local Network / LAN section. When I enter the two IP addresses here (208.67.2...

Re: Advice Requested

Thank you all for your input. Your advice is much appreciated. I am not intimidated by an install process that requires usage of TFTP (assuming this means Trivial File Transfer Protocol) or something of that nature. I consider this easy enough. I will look into the WL-500GP V2 and learn about it. I ...

Advice Requested

Advice Requested as to which hardware to purchase that guarantees a successful deployment with Gargoyle with zero hassle? I am attracted to the Gargoyle project because of its apparent ease of use. Most importantly I am in great need of reasonable access restrictions which encompass specific PC(s) w...
