Hosts with Active Connections 10.85.0.1
I needed to execute a tracert just now and noticed the following output. 1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 18 ms 9 ms 18 ms 10.85.0.1 I expect the 192.168.1.1 but the 10.85.0.1 throws me? Is there some process that runs in the router that has an internal IP address? Maybe the QoS Service? It is also li...

Re: Gargoyle Performance
You are reading the output of top incorrectly-which says just about all I need to know about this I suppose. Yes, just realised, 80% idle, 18% irq, which means the CPU is idle most of the time. Still, there is something holding back the router as direct to the cable modem is 99 Mbits and max withou...

Re: Gargoyle Performance
Just a followup, was doing a big download and ran top from SSH. Looked a little more closely and 80% of the cpu is in nic and 20% in irq. So the 1043nd is flat chat handling the traffic. The only way to improve this is optimise the code further. Assembler perhaps. Mem: 28164K used, 1328K free, 0K sh...

Re: Wireless N Settings
Could be we've gone down a rabbit hole. Been reading about psk2 settings and openwrt (http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/wireless#wpa.modes) it seems that psk2 setting includes ccmp which uses AES, so psk2 is the same as psk2+aes. Effectively, gargoyle and openwrt have chosen aes by default. Given the ...

Re: Wireless N Settings
No - Wireless N need WPA2-AES only - no other encryption works This is a design requirement for Wireless N operation I'm not sure I understand? I get what you are saying, Wireless N needs AES to work and needs 2 channels to work at 300 Mbits/sec as each channel can only do 150. My router is wireles...

Re: Gargoyle Performance
Yup, QoS up down was enabled. I have two additional QoS rules based on IP, as I only want to prioritize voip packets from two devices on my network. I believe the CPU on the 1043nd is underpowered, the max throughput lan/lan is about 120 Mbits/sec, so going to the wan with routing and QoS certainly ...

Re: Wireless N Settings
Looking through the OpenWrt forum, I was wondering whether SSHing into the router, editing the wireless config line from option 'encryption' 'psk2' to option 'encryption' 'psk2+tkip+aes' or option 'encryption' 'psk2+aes' followed by a reboot will fix the 300n problem? I also saw a solution on OpenWR...

Re: Wireless N Settings
Try 6 and try both settings (2nd chan above / below) WPA2-AES has to be set for Wireless-N FYI, I don't have the setting 2nd chan above / below , I only have 20 MHz 40 MHz (2nd chan. above) 40 MHz (2nd chan. below) In addition, my Encryption settings are: None WPA2 PSK WPA PSK WEP WPA RADIUS WPA2 R...

Wireless N Settings
What setting Wireless N configuration is required for 300 Mbits? I have a TP-Link 1043nd and it seems I can only get it to connect at 130 Mbits, even though it's set for Wireless N. The stock firm could be set to 300 MBits but it would dropout and freeze. My current setting are attached. Do I need t...

Re: Gargoyle Performance
QoS does have a performance hit. If I turn it off, I get 81 Mbits/sec as per image..., with it on it's about 55 Mbits/sec. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1786583163.png If I connect directly to the cable modem via wired connection, I get 99 Mbits/sec for the same test (www.speedtest.net). So the fi...
