Re: Wish/idea: blocking in /etc/hosts

Not sure how much it would slow the network, but the hosts file that I am using is about 310Kb in size. The overhead of the extra local lookup is probably small compared to the DNS lookups and downloading that would have been required to support the content that gets blocked. I think you'll probabl...

Re: Using LAN IP to route to different DNS?

Come on guys, don't be shy! OK, maybe you just like a challenge so to get you started here is what I have so for. - I've defined a range of IP addresses that I wish to protect with OpenDNS (192.168.0.96/27 = 192.169.0.97 - 192.169.0.127) - For the devices that I want to protect I get the router to a...

Using LAN IP to route to different DNS?

I'd like to be able to route to different DNS servers based on IP or MAC i.e. - I've got a couple of media devices I'd like to route to Unotelly - I'd like to route all the kids devices to OpenDNS - and all other devices to my ISP's DNS servers Finally I'd like to enforce these settings so that user...

Re: Setting time restrictions

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it's doing exactly what I required so I installed it this morning. Hopefully it'll also resolve the pesky random reboots I've been experiencing with Tomato.

WRT54GL which file?

I wish to install over Tomato on my WRT54GL. Which file to use? The instructions say " These routers have a broadcom wireless chip, so you will want to use the brcm-2.4 images ". Do I have to stick with older release 1.2.x to get the brcm-2.4 image or can I use gargoyle_1.4.x-brcm47xx-squa...

Setting time restrictions

I'm considering replacing Tomato with Gargoyle for its monitoring and quota features. I also wish to set up time restrictions for the kids like I currently have with Tomato. Tomato allows time restrictions to apply to internet access only while still permitting LAN access which allows them to contin...
