ok i have made some progress. i used the openwrt fail safe recovery method and can now continuously ping the router getting a ttl of 64 (the method is to cycle the router, and continually push the top AOSS button while it boots, if your continously pinging the router, you will seee it start to ping ...

Thanks for the replies. I think i will go with the block all execpt approch first, and resort to keeping the nas on a sepperate unconnected network as a last resort

I have ZERO programing knowledge, and dont even know how to load ssh, surely there is an easier way for average joe to switch to gargoyle..? dd-wrt firmware has taken away all my tx power and signal strength and switching to openwrt/gargoyle is the only way to get it back. Basically my neighbour wants to access our wireless network to sahre content on a Gigabit NAS drive connected to router, but i would like to stop him from using our internet.
