Re: 1.12 planning

Is the issue with sysupgrade not properly signalling completion of the flash process to the web UI specific to the ipq806x architecture (which I know won't be formally supported in 1.12) or more general?

Re: Experimental build of Gargoyle 1.11.x for ipq806x architecture routers

So... with that tweak I'm getting 360 plugged into the router, but that's about what I was getting before the tweak (340); so I'm not sure how much it really helped. It appears to have given you all the bandwidth your link now permits rather than only about 95% of it ;-) - a small win only though. ...

Re: Experimental build of Gargoyle 1.11.x for ipq806x architecture routers

One was to enable Flow Offloading, but I don't see a setting for that in Gargoyle. I get the impression that Flow Offloading is at cross purposes with Gargoyle's QoS and bandwidth management infrastructure hence it being missing from the interface. The rest of them seemed pretty scattered so I'm no...

Re: Experimental build of Gargoyle 1.11.x for ipq806x architecture routers

Hi, I tried this (build 1) on my EA8500 that I just got, but the performance wasn't great (as you said). I only got 340 mbps. Thanks for trying it; sorry the performance isn't where you want it. It would be helpful if you were able to fill in a bit more information: - is the 340Mbps with QoS enable...

Re: demanding teenagers... seeking speed

b) have ea8500 serve wifi to study using linksys firmware (where there are about 10 connections ie x5 iphone 6s + x5 surface4) ethernet bridged to existing wndr3800 AP running gargoyle (wifi off). & apple airport extreme 5th gen (in my office) also ethernet bridged to wndr. Would that take stra...

Re: gl.inet mt300n-v2 as LTE access point

To find out more about whether your E3372 is working properly, you may want to consider trying the ROOter firmware which specialises in supporting such modems. It is also based on OpenWrt, as is Gargoyle, so if your router is supported it should be easy to flash to test your modem (don't attempt to ...

Re: demanding teenagers... seeking speed

A tip: you have to use the "linksyssmartwifi.com" address to login to the Linksys factory firmware, not the IP address... :) You do not need to register anywhere to get OEM firmware, just download the appropriate * img file from here (EA8500): https://www.linksys.com/us/support-art...

Re: demanding teenagers... seeking speed

EA8500 (for $125! from wireless1) is super! Great you could score one on special! The performance is pretty good for the price, even at the price I saw. The Wifi throughput with OpenWrt/Gargoyle is not as good as the factory firmware because there's no support for some of the hardware acceleration ...

Re: demanding teenagers... seeking speed

There still seems to be some stock of the Linksys EA8500 floating around (e.g. Wireless1 on Ebay) for around AU$160 - these can run the experimental ipq806x 1.11.x build and should be supported in a future general release. I got one new from Wireless1 a couple of months ago and had no problems insta...
