I did a firstboot reset. Restored my backup from this past July then it reboots like it’s new with none of my settings. I did this several times. I’m not sure what it’s not liking from my backup. So I changed the Ip and copied the firewall, ethers, hosts, and dhcp files from my backup into the route...

I’m having the same issue on my c7v2 with partition being readonly still after running mount_root in failsafe. Permission denied. If I use WinSCP, I find the overlay folder empty.

I have a TP-Link Archer C7 v2 with Gargoyle Version 1.10.0 having the same no WAN IP on router restart issue. The easiest way to resolve is to unplug the NIC from the WAN port and plug it back in. Holy cow testicles. I finally got it worked through. It was definitely an issue with my version. Thanks to the info on DD-WRT, I was able to piece together enough of a trail of work arounds.
