Channel for EU
Is it possible to have the 13 channels allowed in the EU.
I tried to add
ath_ahb countrycode=<country code> to .etc/modules/50-madwifi
But does not seam to work.
Eric can you please add the extra channels to Gargoyle.
PS: tried this on firmware 1.0.16 running in a fonera 2100

Re: Channel for EU
Have you tried adding
to the 'wifi-device' section of /etc/config/wireless file?
(more options for this file: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/wireless)
Code: Select all
option 'country' '<country code>'

I really need does channels because they are not commonly used.
I allready have h-pol antenas to avoid interferance of the v-pol antenas and using channel 13 i get a cleaner spectrum

Re: Channel for EU
Also on the 5Ghz band, the EU channels are not available.
EU allows additional channels 52-64 and 100-140.
I would love to see these being made available, as they give me better reception then the standard channels 36-48.
Adri.

Re: Channel for EU
It's a very good read and lots of explanation.
But... the key point is WAY down near the bottom...

Thanks for reply. I found a standard way.
I built from source. There is an option in menuconfig in ath9k driver to allow regdomain change.
So...
I will download latest Gargoyle source and build with these options.
Looks like its only the ath9k series he mentions.
I'll try some compiling and see what happens.
If it works - I'll post them up somewhere for anyone wanting
to do some testing to download and try out.
-----------------
Edit: I will probably add 'Hack' in there i.e.
"Gargoyle-Hacked" to the firmware so that it can't be confused
with legitimate releases from Eric - don't want to mess with that.

That works awesome - even bumps up the max output power - bonus!

I have a wireless link with 1km ,I can replace my current device to test the stability of the firmware and speed.
Please let us know when you put the "hacked firmware" online.
Just add a warning about the txpower so people don´t complaint if they burn their radio by set it wrong .
