Hello,
I've got the router (TL-WR741ND ver. 1.5) and I 'm looking forward to flash it . I start from scratch, so I will flash original firmware.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information, which version of Gargoyle (1.3.*) works best with my stuff. I have to decide between:
-1.3.5 (gargoyle_1.3.5-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.6 (gargoyle_1.3.6-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.7 (gargoyle_1.3.7-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.8 (gargoyle_1.3.8-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.9 (gargoyle_1.3.9-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.10 (gargoyle_1.3.10-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
-1.3.11 (gargoyle_1.3.11-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin)
The newest soft should be the best, but I can't find any information how the 11th version works with my router (WR741ND v.1.5). That is why, If you have any experience with Gargoyle on this machine, please share Your opinion. For me, the most important, is QoS + WOL + working WiFi + simplicity (configure and forget ).
Thanks in advance for Your help:),
Best,
Dzeus

Use either of those builds - use the factory one as your first flash.
Later, you use the sysupgrade builds to upgrade to newer version
of Gargoyle from the Web GUI.
I would not flash 1.3.11 - it's currently buggy - stick with 1.3.10

Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
Hej,
Thanks for help
Yesterday, I'd installed 1.3.10 version (gargoyle_1.3.10-ar71xx-tl-wr741nd-v1-squashfs-factory.bin) and I fell in love with Gargoyle
After some test I've got a few questions:
1. It's not so important, but I'm curious. During starting my router the SYS led is blinking, all other leds(power, wlan, wan, 1) are on. After the system(openwrt) starts, SYS led stops blinking and is on as above(power, sys, wlan, wan, 1 )-even I transfer some data.
Cause the SYS led is controlled by openwrt, I think all other also. Is it a bug? should I be worried about it?:)
Thanks in advance for Your help

Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
Don't worry about the LEDs too much. This is one of those "it would be nice..." features. Since different routers use different controls for the LEDs using something like Gargoyle that tries to work on everything can mean that you run into some oddities. It's fixable, but I've made a lot of this cosmetic, router-specific stuff a fairly low priority.
Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
Thanks for help, should I notice this bug with LEDs to somebody?
There is one more thing:
2. I connect to router from my work, where only two ports are available (80, 443). For now, on this ports I get the gargoyle www interface. It would be great to disable WWW panel for one of the ports (i.e. 80) and run on it SSH.
I've tried in: "SYSTEM> Router Access" set:
------Web Access-----
-Web Admin Protocol: HTTPS (443)
-Remote Web Admin Access: HTTP (443)
------SSH Access-----
-Local SSH Port: 22
-Enable Remote SSH Access: true
Remote SSH Port: 80
But unfortunately, above configuration doesn't work ;(. I can't log using putty on SSH( 80 port). I suppose, that some additional operations should be done, maybe reconfiguration of the httpd server?
I'd be grateful for help,
Best,
Dzeus

Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
Hey, I have a TL-WR741ND v1.9 that I want to change to OpenWrt from dd-wrt. So, is Gargoyle 1.3.10 still recommended over the latest, or has it been fixed with 1.3.12?
Secondly, can I just go directly from dd-wrt to OpenWrt, or do I have to flash back to the original firmware first?
Thanks!

Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
i think it's much better to return to stock firmware before flashing openwrt!
In their forum there is a sticky thread with all the "revert to stock firmware" files to use with dd-wrt.

Re: TL-WR741ND which version of Gargoyle?
hey,
I'm planning to upgrade my garygole version (I've messed up, and no space laft on device - ie. when I try to edid crontab).
That's'why I thougt, that upgrade would be best solution. Can you tell my, what now is the best and suitable version for my TL-WR741ND ver. 1.5
On the page http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr741nd, I found there is only one "r29342"
