Weird behavior in wireless bridge mode (bug?)

I configured a couple wr841n routers tonight in wireless bridge mode, and the AP they were connecting to had DHCP set to issue IPs from 192.169.1.10 to 254. I gave the two wireless bridges IPs of 192.168.1.2, and 192.168.1.3, but after configuration the AP simply issued them IPs in the DHCP range. On the AP I put in their MACs and assigned them static leases and it then worked fine.
Usually when you assign static IPs outside DHCP range, the node hosting the DHCP server will recognize and respect the IPs of the hosts connecting with the static IPs.
Just wanted to report it.
