Different SSID or same for 2.4/5ghz, and bug

I know the answer is still technically out on which is preferable- same SSID or different for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I have seen a bug in prior versions where at least on my router (WNDR3800) the 5ghz band will quit broadcasting if they are both given the same name. Haven't tried since 1.7.2 though and I'm on 1.9.1 now.
It is my understanding that if you use the same SSID most dual-band devices will roam to whichever the better frequency is and some will even connect to both at the same time. I haven't had any problems with differentiating them, but haven't really tried to use the same SSID and I'm curious if it would be beneficial or not for bandwidth. Any opinions on using the same vs different SSID's with Gargoyle?
