Accesing gargoyle GUI in bridge mode

Post by cpucpu »

Given this setup:
Gargoyle router bridge mode - 192.168.0.1
Modem AP - 192.168.1.254
PC wired or wireless - auto ip

I can access the modem AP GUI, but how do I access gargoyle router GUI?

I know I can shutdown the modem ap, then change the PC network adapter to a fixed ip to match gargoyle router (does not work if i dont shutdown the AP).
Or Failsafe reset the gargoyle router (bit too much).

Any other option? What if i cant shutdown the modem ap?

The gargoyle router is wirelessly bridged to the modem?
Then the modem should be handing out an IP address to Gargoyle and you can access it there

Yes. I did what you said, but it only works when the PC (auto ip) is directly connected to the modem ap, i cannot reach gargoyle GUI when connecting the pc to the bridge itself (gargoyle router). As I said in this case I would have to shutdown the modem, then gargoyle GUI somehow works again.

If the modem is a public AP, then i have no control over it.

Hi mate the DHCP server on your mane router gives your bridge a different IP, from the one that you typed in on it's webinterface.
You can find it by looking on the Connected Hosts page and look for the MAC address of your bridge. I have 2 bridges in my house and I give them static IPs.
Linksys WRT3200ACM
NETGEAR Nighthawk R7800
NETGEAR R6260

Hi, i know this. I'll to simplify:

Bridge > modem < pc = can access both modem and router GUIs.

Pc > bridge > modem = can access modem GUI. cannot access bridge GUI. Why? I want bridge GUI access from here.

Pc > bridge, modem off = can access bridge GUI again, but need to be able to shut modem down. If the modem is a public AP, i have no control over it.

I suppose i may also install sysupgrade 1.9.x from http://lantisproject.com/gargoyle_custom/TestPolldev/to get thr wifi radio switch fixed. That way i dont need to turn off the modem ap, only the bridge wifi...

My question regardibg accesing the bridge GUI is still there.

That address you're accessing it on there.
192.168.1.64

That is the address you should be able to access it from.

Modem gives Bridge that IP address.
Bridge makes itself accessible on that address.

If you view the system log you should see it saying something like "relayd: Assigning 192.168.1.64 to bridge interface"
If your PC you are accessing from isn't joining the 192.168.1.x subnet that is an entirely separate issue

bridge -> modem <- Pc (auto ip). Can access 192.168.1.64
Pc (auto ip) -> bridge -> modem. Cannot access 192.168.1.64

Well PC is in the subnet as 192.168.1.69 just thay it doesnt show up in the modem dhcp, i suppose because it is through the bridge.
