Help me get this right

Hey sorry for being such a network noob, but last time I tried this I crashed the router and had to goto failsafe mode and telnet in.
The router im trying to get working stable is the TP Link TL-WR1043ND v1.7.
The cable modem is the landlords and its a shitty Netgear CVG824Gv3.
So first on the modem, I turn wifi off and set it like this:

Then with gargoyle on the router set it like this?

Or this?

So that would be setting the router ip to 192.168.1.1 and the modems ip is 192.168.0.1, and for some reason I have to manually add the dns server. I have to be doing something wrong here.
Also can somone please tell me, when you set mac addresses static IP's in the UI, do you have to set those IP's as static on the individual machines?
Thanks heaps I really need to sort this out.
