WNDR3800 on 1.9.X WAN not working

Hi,
I have a WNDR3800 on 1.9.X that previously was connecting to the WAN using PPoE. I have now had to change my setup and use a provider modem (telstra gateway max) as my phone now uses VOIP I cannot put it into bridge mode.
I tried for hours to get the WNDR3800 setup as per the non-bridge guide here:
https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/do ... ario-modem
It simple will not work, I tried DHCP (wired) not getting IP from the modem and it cannot connect to the internet. Standard computer plugged into the modem works perfectly.
On the modem log I can see the eth constantly going up and down that is connected to gargoyle wan port.
Any suggestions? I just assume that the static WAN is non functional in gargoyle for my router.
cheers

Please upgrade to 1.9.1 and try again.
Do not preserve settings.

I'm running 1.9.1, installed without preserving settings but wont work.
I'm thinking about giving up on garoyle and getting a unifi access point for wifi duties for the gateway max.

Not to dishearten you further, but this setup works fine.
I'm using the exact same router with the same gateway and same ISP.
Let's go back over your settings, from the start

Can you please provide details of how you have the gateway and gargoyle connected to each other.
And also a screenshot of your settings on gargoyles connection page.
Upload the screenshot to an external site, not here.

hi lantis,
I'm not disheartend, just is frustrating its not working. Appreciate your help
I connect the WNDR3800 using WAN port to LAN1 of TGM(telstra gateway max).
The TGM has IP set as 192.168.0.1
WNDR3800 setup as per the guide, I cant get a screenshot until tomorrow as its all disconnected now.
basically the WAN IP set 192.168.0.2 gateway same as TGM. LAN IP set as 192.168.1.254.
The TGM did not detect the WNDR3800 as being plugged in, even when I tried to setup using DHCP the WNDR3800 could not get IP allocated.
When I first setup gargoyle on the WNDR3800 I tried to use non-bridge mode but gave up as it wouldnt work. Bridge mode is no problems. Now I cant put TGM into bridge mode I'm stuck!
cheers

I'll wait to see your exact settings, but my recommendation is we stick to DHCP Wired and work with that. It is the least likely to give us trouble.
Also are you certain the TGM is at 192.168.0.1? The default is (or at least used to be) 10.0.0.138

Hi Lantis,
images of setup are here
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1phkcvnsi9wv ... fimIa?dl=0. I again spent some time tonight trying to get it working but same result. A picture of the TGM log is also there showing that the eth interface is just going up and down not connecting.
I've turned the 3800 into a wireless AP for now so at least I can schedule the wifi.
Another side question is, with the TGM I have the radio disabled but it appears to me that air and fon are still emitting?? this is annoying if its the case.
cheers

Do you have access to a crossover cable? I'd try swapping out the original ethernet cable for that.
Also i really think you should switch to DHCP. It is one less variable to account for when trying to trouble shoot this.
And can you please provide a logread from gargoyle as well after it tries to connect? Instructions can be found here:
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... f=8&t=8505
You can disable Telstra Air from your account login page. It should stop broadcasting within 24 hours upon doing so.

I did try DHCP but it was unable to get an IP. Dont think I dont have a crossover cable, would it need one to go to wan->lan?
I'll see if I can get the log tomorrow night when I get a chance to look again.
thanks

It shouldn't require one, but it's worth a try.
I just noticed I'm using one.
