VPN host name resolution issue

Hello,
My Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH running Gargoyle 1.6.2 (Router 1) is configured as OpenVPN Server (10.4.0.1/172.16.10.1) and my TP-Link Archer C7 v2 running Gargoyle 1.9.1 (Router 2) is configured as OpenVPN client (10.4.0.14/192.168.0.1). The two routers are located at two different sites and I have a working OpenVPN tunnel setup over Internet between them. What I try to achive is to be able to access host connected to Router 1 from terminals behind Router 2 as well as all access to Internet should go through Router 1. I have gone through, I believe, most of the OpenVPN topics in this forum but have not found an answer to my particular problem.
Internet access through Router 1 is working fine as well as accessing all hosts connected to Router 1 by their IP-addresses.
However, using the statistic host name (static IP) assigned by Router 1 to access a particular host does not work for me. I have several services running on Router 1 LAN that are configured to be accessed by hostname and I am desperat to get this to work.
When setting up singular windows, mac or linux OpenVPN clients I have added "dhcp-option DNS 172.16.10.1" to my conf-file to make it work, but that did not work when setting up Router 2.
I hope there somebody can help me configure my routers to make this work.
Thanks in advance.
