Cannot access via SSH after brick

Hi,
I Tried to upgrade my TP-Link WDR4300 V1 to the latest ispy build (May 12).
Unfortunately I think I bricked my router. I have managed to get to failsafe and telnet into the router however I cannot ssh into the router.
So far I have.
Failsafe - telnet - firstboot - mount_root - passwd.
I have tried to understand the openwrt wiki but cannot see what I am missing.
Any ideas?

On your PC fix the ip address, say
Direct connect a LAN cable router to PC
from command line
power up your router and see what happens

G'day Ispy,
I already have this setup. I can ping and telnet into the router from my pc. I just can't ssh. I tried the 192.168.1.1 -t and it the normal ping result

somebody has changed the wiki, its hard to read now
from telnet
what happens?

I did see that and was going to try them all. Followed your reponse.
All good now. One thing how do I know I'm on your latest build?

The newer TP-Links are currently unstable as I suspect you have found out (subject to change)

I am thinking about an Archer C7 just to get AC but I think I will wait awhile
