Installation issues for dummies

Hello,
I am completely new to Gargoyle, and have only a rudimental knowledge of networks. In a house that I rent, I have a wifi connection, with the following router, supplied by the service provider:

Web Cube 42
model: E8258Ws-2
item: 51070MMJ
Color: black
Band: WCDMA2100/900

The contract I have specifies a maximum bandwith use per day, but tenants keep passing this limit. I would therefore like to use Gargoyle exclusively to set up a total limit for bandwith use, or alternatively an individual limit for each connected device.

My questions are:
1) Is Gargoyle compatible with my router, and how can I install it?
2) Alternatively, is it possible to replace the router I have with the Gargoyle router, with pre-installed Gargoyle?
3) Alternatively, is it possible to connect the Gargoyle router to my router?

I apologise in advance for my questions, that surely will appear naive to most users, but I would really appreciate help from more experienced fellow. Many thanks in advance,

1) no not compatible
2) possibly. I don't think there are any routers that support cdma modems natively, but many of them have USB ports which you can plug a cdma dongle into. If your provider has these, that is an option
3) yes. This is the easiest option. You leave all of your configuration on the provider modem as it is, and put the gargoyle between it and all the users.

Thanks Lantis. Could you please provide more details on how I could put the Gargoyle router downstream to my router? What configurations have to be changed - more in details, is there anything that I have to change in my router, and how would the devices access the network? Still same id and pw? Many thanks, and apologise again for such naive questions.

Yiu leave your provider modem set up the same as it is today, however if it has wifi you would disable that.
You take an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the modem to the WAN port of Gargoyle router, and set gargoyle to connect via DHCP wired.
The WAN and LAN subnets need to be seperate so if your current modem used 192.168.1.X then on the LAN side of gargoyle you'll need to use 192.168.2.X.
All clients will now connect wired or wirelessly to gargoyle to get their internet connection.

For your internet? Yes this doesn't change
For your wifi? That would be easiest as far as getting all devices back online

If you're asking about something else you'll need to clarify sorry.

Hi Lantis,
you suggested to take an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the modem to the WAN port of Gargoyle router, but my router does not appear to have a LAN port (see http://www.tre.it/assistenza/sherlock/g ... o/Gestione, I apologise I could find no English description) ...

Can I connect the Gargoyle router anyway?

Thanks ! Matteo

Oh ok. No LAN port.
So all your devices currently use Wifi to get internet?

You can use gargoyle to connect to it wirelessly.
Connection options are DHCP Wireless.

After that, all settings are basically the same.
