Hi

I'm new to Gargoyle and currently using Tomato 1.27.8745 ND USB Ext on my ASUS WL-520GU.

I would like to install Gargoyle mainly because I would like to use the usage quota feature.

My question is, do I need to install OpenWRT first or I can install Garfoyle directly? Will the USB still work? I use it for storage.

Also which file do I need to download. Any help is appreciated.

No need to flash OpenWRT first, Gargoyle is OpenWRT

Gargoyle is the GUI to access the OpenWRT underneath

Read that as far as USB support, it does take work on your part.

USB is not just supported once you flash, some configuration
is required on your end.

If you are not comfortable with doing some of those steps,
stick with Tomato.

As far as flashing - not sure, from some of the google searches,
it was saying you have to TFTP flash the firmware.

gargoyle_1.3.5-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx

would be the build you would be trying - but once again, the
USB support is NOT right out of the box - you will have to login
to the router via putty and do command line configuring,
downloading packages, etc.

If just from what I've written is here is not sounding the easiest
to you, don't even bother yet, wait for a newer build of
Backfire that might start including the USB support modules.

Thanks for the reply, I think I'm giving it a go as U think I'll be able to get the usb working by using command line config. Just wanted to know it can be done. I'll just need to do some home work to find out how..
