Setup WR1043ND as access point in existing network

Hey guys,

yesterday i tried to setup my 1043ND running gargoyle v1.9 to use it with TOR. I want to use it in an existing network. DSL comes from a modem and goes into a fritzbox. The fritzbox is dhcp server and provides internet connections for all devices in my Network. What i want to do now is to integrate the 1043ND into this network, preferably with a static IP, and use it as access point (or switch, i dont need wifi) and route the traffic from devices that are connected to the 1043ND through TOR. It is important that the 1043ND is inside the same subnet like any other network device, because i need to access network shares.

Please, could somebody tell me how i have to configure the connection settings in gargoyle?

Here is what i tried:

Im really confused with these settings. What exactly is meant by Router IP? Is it the IP my fritzbox uses, so it would be the same like the Gateway?

ok

You need to use two different subnets

"The fritzbox is dhcp server"

"The gargoyle router is dhcp server"

fritzbox 192.168.178.x

gargoyle router 192.168.1.x (anything except 192.168.178.x)

but when i then connect devices to the gargoyle router, they cant access devices connected to the fritzbox, right?

Is there any other solution?

No

Most features with gargoyle use the firewall therefore a different subnet

What are you trying to do?

One solution is make gargoyle the main router.

Everything connects to the gargoyle router

I have a settop box that i want to connect via gargoyle. This box is also connected to my nas for recordings. Thats why i need it to be in the same subnet.

I cant just replace the firtzbox, since it has some features i am using (5ghz wifi for example).

Is there no way to integrate the gargoyle router into an existing network!?

not if you want to use TOR as well...?

You are talking about two very different topics.

IF you ONLY want to use it as an AP inside another network...
Connect Via: DHCP (Wired or Wireless)
Turn off the gargoyle DHCP server.
Now all clients on the gargoyle router will be served an IP address from your other main router.

Ok... no i also need the TOR functionality. Apparantly this only works if the gargoyle router creates its own subnet... thats quiet dissapointing :(
