Hey guys, I've successfully used this guide before to reset gargoyle to its default through Putty. I forget what ip I used for it last time, and now I cannot get Putty to connect when I've come back to it months later. I had it set to bridge mode. It's a WNDR3800 trying to connect through the WAN port... Any suggestions? This time I used the ip settings in the video above, but from memory I had to use something different.

I think you should use the LAN port on that device
Addresses in the 192.168.1.x range will be ok.
Remember to use telnet for 1.9.1 and below, and SSH for 1.10.0

Ok that worked to get in. Thank you for your help. Now I can't seem to get the firstboot command to do anything. I swear it worked fine last time.
Also I'm happy to just do a reflash to 1.10.0 if that's simpler. Is netcat the best way to do this? Can I do it over telnet?

“firstboot -y” is the new command.
I’ve never flashed over firstboot sorry. I’m sure I’ll have to one day, but for now I can’t offer any advice.

firstboot -y just sends me to a new line the same as the other command. I am still on 1.9.2. I swear it worked fine months ago. I'm not sure what I am doing differently now.
Regarding flashing, what is the recommended way without having access to the web gui?

Then you type “reboot” and try to connect to the router normally

What is the command in terminal (Linux) to log into gargoyle in failsafe?
I’ve only used putty and winSCP but have not learned how to do it myself in CLI
I will use a raspberry pi 4 to correct my config using failsafe and terminal

Access to Failsafe Gargoyle < v1.10:
Use eg PuTTY, protocol: Telnet, IP address: 192.168.1.1, Port: 23, User: root, Password: no password
Access to Failsafe Gargoyle >= v1.10:
Use eg PuTTY, protocol: SSH, IP address: 192.168.1.1, Port: 22, User: root, Password: no password
EDIT: You will not find a log extract in this mode (you can only watch the boot log via a serial cable) - this is a rescue mode.
