Way to set WAN port speed?

Hi everyone,
I recently tried to install various (about 6) versions of Gargoyle on my Netgear WNDR3700v1 and WNDR4300v1. On both routers, I was unable to connect to my cable modem and obtain an IP. The link light for the WAN connection would just blink, and I would just get 0.0.0.0 for the WAN IP. I then tried DD-WRT, and had the exact same problem. I found that by changing the WAN port speed setting to 100Mbps, I was able to connect with the modem. I was also able to also change it back to gigabit, and stay connected.

I would still like to give Gargoyle a try, as with DD-WRT I was still having clients drop WIFI connections to the router. Does anyone know of a way to manually change the WAN port speed? I am thinking that the auto-sync is not working the way it should, and needs to be set manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well. This is interesting. I have the exact same routers. I also had exact same issue. Except I was trying with 1.8.1 ..I did not try any other version. I have Comcast cable modem and service is 125/25. I also could not get IP on wan. Tried all the little tricks. Didn't have a lot of time to work with it as when internet goes down. I get yelled at..lol. So I decided I would just keep one on gargolye and use it as ap. But no matter what I did. I could not get faster that 90mbps down and 20 up. Ap was connected with cat 6 cable. If I switch back to NG or ddwrt and using same PC. I get full speeds again. So from what I read here. I have to change something in softconfig?
I'll read up on it when I have time and also try 1.9 this time. Really want this to work as I share internet with some niebors and gargolye would be extremely helpful in killing the bandwidth hogs.
