Is this VPN setup possible?

Hi,

I have a Synology NAS, with a VPN client active on it. My issue is that there is no killswitch for downloading. So if the VPN connection drop, it keeps downloading with my true IP.

I would like to know if this would be possible to do with 2 router under Gargoyle :

My concerns :
- First : Is there a killswitch in Gargoyle?
- From the primary network, will I be able to connect to the NAS through local network?
- Currently I can access my NAS from work, would I still be able to do so with a VPN router in between?

Thanks!

No That I know of (pull the plug out)

yes, but I suspect double NAT which can cause problems

yes but you will need to setup port forwarding.

In summary, yes it can be done but it not plug and play. Things will need to be configured. One of the big things you may loose is subnet browsing by host name.

HI,

Thank you! I'll work on it when I'll time. But at least, I now know that's probably possible!

The killswitch is not unplugging the router, what I'm looking for is that if the connection to the VPN is lost, the NAS won't be able to download over Internet :( I don't want to do a setup and discover some days after that the connection was lost and that I was downloading with my real IP :S

use some kind of ping watchdog that can only communicate over the vpn.
Then have it run a script that kills the download.
