unclear docs on installing onto WRT54GL

Hi all,
I installed gargoyle_1.3.4-wrt54g-squashfs.bin on a WRT54GL v1.1 with stock firmware after reading this thread from others who did the same, and it worked fine. However, it's not clear from the documentation that this is what I was supposed to do.
The Supported Routers - Tested Routers page doesn't list the WRT54GL as having "specific image in downloads". So I initially tried to install gargoyle_1.3.4-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx, which seems to be recommended by the Installation Guide for devices that don't have a specific image. But the stock firmware wouldn't accept that file for firmware upload, complaining "incorrect image file".
Perhaps the documentation could be clarified on this point? I realize that those docs are in a wiki, and I'm happy to make the changes myself (to state that WRT54GL users with stock firmware should install the .bin file for the WRT54G), but I'd like to make sure that's actually the right thing to do. Does anyone know for sure?

p.s. Thanks to Eric and the other developers for Gargoyle! I was previously running HyperWRT Thibor (before reverting to stock firmware in preparation for installing Gargoyle), which I had installed fourish years ago, and I much prefer this easier-to-use and regularly-maintained firmware.
