Hey Guys,

First post here. I have a DIR-601 A1 that I have experimented with DD-WRT & would like to flash it with Gargoyle since I have read good things about it on this router. The problem is I can not find the correct bin file for this router on the download page. I was searching for 1.5.10 since I read that was a good version for this router. Please help me out & post a link for the bin file download.

Thank you for all the work on the firmware's. It's amazing to me what you all can do to routers.

I have that router. You have two options.

Gargoyle 1.5.10. Has all features:

Eko Gargoyle 1.6.2.2. Has the updated wireless drivers plus whatever other updates, fixes and improvements were provided from 1.5.11 to 1.6.2. Due to sub-4MB flash size, it does not have uPnP / automatic port forwarding.

Both are stable from my experience.

Thank you for the reply & the links. I have 1.5.10 flashed on the DIR-601 now & will give it a go for a day. I will try the 1.6.2.2 you listed, I had no idea about that version. Thank you again for you help.

I figured out how to download the bin files. I clicked on the download link for the dir 825 & changed the 825-b1 to 601-a1.

You're welcome. And yup! That's exactly how I was able to find the files after they were delisted from the download page. From 1.5.11 it wouldn't save settings after restarts / power outages due to small flash (it's below 4MB due to the emergency flash thing it has... which is nice because it's basically unbrickable).

I've ran both for long periods of times without any issues. Personally I feel 1.6.2.2 might have slightly better range, but it might be all in my head (overall, that router doesn't have that great range probably due to single antenna design).

Here are the updates 1.6.2.2 would include rather than running 1.5.10.

New in 1.5.11:
Support for multiple languages and translations ("i18n support")

Personally I run 1.6.2.2 because I don't need uPnP, but I know for a fact that 1.5.10 is also good because I ran that for many many months without issues. I'd say it just comes down to whether you need uPnP or not.
