This is a minor update: the "Refresh Plugins" button is moved up to the top of the section and if it is clicked in the absence of a WAN connection, then the user is prompted to Check their Internet connection.

Flashed the spare DIR-615 C1 and swapped it with the 1.6.2 that was being used for the past year or so.
Glad to see the LED fixes have been incorporated
Only difference so far is that it will not allow me to set a custom transmit of 21 like before. I tried to apply the reghack.mips.elf like with 1.6.2, but like before, it applied successfully to cfg80211.ko but then said no space left on device when I tried to patch cfg80211.ko.
Would it be please be possible to add it to the next test release?
Thanks
edit: I just had to add that web browsing is so much more noticeably snappier compared to 1.6.2. This is fantastic!

You shouldn't need to use that hack anymore.
Just set your country code on each wifi interface from the command line.
See this wiki
https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/wireless.
The option is "country" with a 2 letter code. E.g. Australia is AU.

Thanks.
I added txpower '21' and country 'jp', and iw phy0 info now gives me this:
Code: Select all
root@Gargoyle:~# iw phy0 info
Wiphy phy0
max # scan SSIDs: 4
max scan IEs length: 2257 bytes
Retry short limit: 7
Retry long limit: 4
Coverage class: 0 (up to 0m)
Device supports AP-side u-APSD.
Device supports T-DLS.
Available Antennas: TX 0x3 RX 0x7
Configured Antennas: TX 0x3 RX 0x7
Supported interface modes:
* IBSS
* managed
* AP
* AP/VLAN
* WDS
* monitor
* mesh point
* P2P-client
* P2P-GO
Band 1:
Capabilities: 0x104e
HT20/HT40
SM Power Save disabled
RX HT40 SGI
No RX STBC
Max AMSDU length: 3839 bytes
DSSS/CCK HT40
Maximum RX AMPDU length 65535 bytes (exponent: 0x003)
Minimum RX AMPDU time spacing: 8 usec (0x06)
HT TX/RX MCS rate indexes supported: 0-15
Frequencies:
* 2412 MHz [1] (20.0 dBm)
* 2417 MHz [2] (20.0 dBm)
* 2422 MHz [3] (20.0 dBm)
* 2427 MHz [4] (20.0 dBm)
* 2432 MHz [5] (20.0 dBm)
* 2437 MHz [6] (19.0 dBm)
* 2442 MHz [7] (19.0 dBm)
* 2447 MHz [8] (19.0 dBm)
* 2452 MHz [9] (19.0 dBm)
* 2457 MHz [10] (19.0 dBm)
* 2462 MHz [11] (19.0 dBm)
* 2467 MHz [12] (20.0 dBm)
* 2472 MHz [13] (20.0 dBm)
* 2484 MHz [14] (20.0 dBm)
valid interface combinations:
* #{ managed } <= 2048, #{ AP, mesh point } <= 8, #{ P2P-client, P2P-GO } <= 1, #{ IBSS } <= 1,
total <= 2048, #channels <= 1, STA/AP BI must match
* #{ WDS } <= 2048,
total <= 2048, #channels <= 1, STA/AP BI must match
HT Capability overrides:
* MCS: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff
* maximum A-MSDU length
* supported channel width
* short GI for 40 MHz
* max A-MPDU length exponent
* min MPDU start spacing
And the change is indeed reflected in the Gargoyle GUI (Now shows 0-20dBm)
I believe that the reghack.mips.elf also bypassed the artificial dBm limit. Shouldn't it be able to theoretically go higher (DD-WRT allowed it - not that I'm complaining
)

Those are indeed the correct outputs for Japan.
In theory yes it could go higher if your hardware is capable of doing so. But that would be against the local regulations.

Really!
Need a little more info to investigate. When you click "Refresh Plugins" does exactly nothing happen? Did you have a WAN IP address (ie Internet connection) to the router?
