Currently unsupported.
They don't even list the hardware specs on openwrt so I can't tell you whether another firmware would work.

I used v1 firmware for v2 tplinkwr842 and it bricked. So it is risky to use another firmware version.
I think we should advice tplink to slow down his manufacture line.

This is the only other site I know of:
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_TL-WR841N_v10.x
As you can see, all of the important information is blank.
You could email TP-Link and ask nicely.
Or, you could rip it to pieces and look at the physical markings on each chip.

Can you please take a look on this link:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd
I accidentally came across this. OPENWRT started supporting the router.
if i am not wrong according to what i see there firmware for v9 can be used on v10. So can i use gargoyle in the same way?
Also i got a mail from TP-LINK as below,
"The change of "Hardware Specification” is that “1>RAM” changes to "Zentel", and also, the cost of the router is down. There are no other big changes of the product compared with its last version. And we are sorry that some data would not be exposed for the sake of confidentiality. If you need any specific data, please point out which one you want to know and we will inform you depending on the circumstances."

You can try it, although no one is going to give you any guarantees.
The note there says that they flashed using a serial console.
I would suggest you are at high risk of bricking the router.
