How to setup data allocation?

Hi!

So i managed to set everything up, billion bipac 7700N R2 bridged -> tp link TL-WDR4300 router.

Now what i want to do is setup my pc to always have a minimum amount of download speed available at all times. 50 kbp/s should suffice for gaming.

So that if someone else in the house is downloading or streaming, i want to have atleast 50kb speed available to my pc when i am on it.

Which function helps me do this?

QoS.

See http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=qos

It's a big read but you'll find your understanding much better.

nvm all that

Lanis, i mimicked your suggestions in this thread

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... 9&start=10

I still cant seem to stop lagging when i load a video. The only difference i have done is instead of making individual port rules i just did one tcp one udp with a massive range like 80-20730 to cover all the games i play.

edit: did all the port rules individually and still lagging

Ok I just realized that I flashed this router with sys upgrade instead of factory. Is that going to cause problems?

It might cause an issue. Hard to say.

But let's take it one step at a time and post screen shots of your settings.

Be aware that making large blanket rules is almost never a good idea. Especially because you included port 80 where all of your videos are going to load from.

Ok then I'll start from the beginning. In your gamers scenario you say to assign static ip address to all devices/computers. Is this necessary? Can I just use static ip address on mine?

Necessary? No.
Helpful? Yes.

You only need to have a static IP on the devices you wish to target with rules. All other devices can be put into a "default class".

I say that it is helpful to assign every device because perhaps later you will want to assign rules to them. It's nice to have them all organised.
It's only 10 minutes work :)
