Best way Wireless Bridge/Repeater or WDS?

Hi i have a TP-link wdr3600 set up as a ap+WDS mode running 1.7x
Up stairs I have a WD N750 running 1.7x as a Wireless Bridge/Repeater.
It repeats my 5ghz signal but it keeps dropping out and I don't no if my androids are jumping across to the new ssid.
How does WDS differ from Wireless Bridge/Repeater and wood it work better for me do you think?
Is it better to use WDS on 2.4 ghz?
I havent played around with it much yet.
Or wood DHCP Wireless work better for my setup?
