Good Afternoon,
I am in the process of setting up my own VPN for my little at home business to feel more secured. The only element I am unsure of is which installer to download.

So I am using a Netcomm NB604N with firmware version: GAN5.CZ56T-B-NC.AU-R4B030.EN(NB604N)

Upon going to the download page and choosing the latest stable build v1.6, I was presented with: Atheros AR71XX, Broadcom, Atheros 231X/5312 & Alix/X86 and after doing some google on the topic, I am still unsure as to what version software to download.

If anyone is in the know, please help?
Thank You,
- Benjamin.

Your device appears unsupported.
It is a Broadcom chip by the way.

Openwrt (the base of Gargoyle) supports almost no modem router combos. You would be best to find a new router that supports openwrt and place the modem into bridge mode.

@Lantis,
Thank you,

May I be a pain and ask where you found that information? just so I can do the hunting myself in the future without needing to ask :)

I have ordered a new'ish modem which I should have in 5 days time, it appears to meet the requirements.

Thank You.

Sure mate no problem.

Basically the first step is to search for the model of your router+openwrt
E.g. "WNDR3800 openwrt" gives you this page: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr3800

The first table is the most important, "supported versions" which in this case shows that the WNDR3800 has been supported since version r28597.

If you get a good result there, chances are it will be supported by Gargoyle as well.

If it says it's supported since "Trunk", that means that it is currently under development, and Gargoyle is currently on the version before trunk called "Barrier Breaker" (1.7.x Experimental). 1.6.x is the stable branch based on Attitude Adjustment.

The other source would be to look through the download lists for Gargoyle to see what is supported. The first dropdown list is the Chipset. In general Atheros chips (ar71xx) are FAR more supported than their Broadcom counterparts.

As far as modem router combos, openwrt just doesn't have the drivers for many modems, so the support is very small.
Many people would buy a small generic modem, and a decent router capable of Openwrt and link them together.

For reference, the link to yours is: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netcomm/nb604n
Which shows no supported version.
