TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1 proxy setting

Good day to you guys. I am a new member :D

I have used TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1 for sometime now and have constant drops of wireless connection till it is unbearable. After asking Uncle Google, I noticed this is a frequent issue among the 1043nd and most people recommend to use third party firmware to fix it.

Currently I am using version 1.7.1 and I am very happy... no more disconnections of wireless connection except once in a while ( I can live with that ;) ).

I am currently in a university that uses proxy servers which we students have to go through to access the internet. Before I flashed gargoyle firmware, when using tp-link stock firmware, I was able to connect to the internet via the main "proxy address" which everyone uses which are all in alphabets. After flashing with gargoyle firmware, I am unable to use that proxy address anymore. I get an error "unable to connect to proxy server". The only way is to use the numbered proxy address (172.xx.x.xxx) which has frequent disconnection with the servers. I have contacted the network admins and there is nothing wrong with the main proxy address. All my other devises also has the same issue.

I have tried my neighbor's wifi using the main proxy address and it is always working. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Thank you.

It will be a problem with your DNS setup on the WAN side. The settings that you need to adjust are at Gargoyle - Connection - Basic - Internet/WAN.

I suspect that you are trying to use Static IP (Wired) and you probably should be using DHCP (wired).

If this does not work then please post a screen shot of your settings

Thanks for the quick reply nworbnhoj,

I have set it to run on DHCP (wired) the whole time and not on Static IP  . On stock tp-link firmware, it was also on DHCP and it was working. This is my screenshot of the settings page. I have left most of my settings as default.

Thanks

Try untick "Allow NameCoin/OpenNIC Resolution"

nworbnhoj, unticking "Allow NameCoin/OpenNIC Resolution" doesn't seem to do anything. The problem still persist. Another thing, why does the website auto logs out after a few minutes(during typing) ?

Thank you.

Do you mean this website - the Gargoyle forum logs out???

I am interested in the WAN status of your Router - ie Gargoyle - Status - Overview. Could you cut&paste the WAN section from the status page - or post a scrren shot.
WAN IP Address:
WAN Netmask:
WAN MAC Address:-
WAN Gateway IP:
WAN DNS Server(s):

Your Gargoyle config appears to be correct.
(Check that Gargoyle - Connection - DHCP - ☑ LAN DHCP Server Enabled).

I suspect that if you remove the proxy setting from your other devices (mobile, laptop etc) when you are connecting to your TL-WR1043ND, then they will work just fine.

I suspect that a LAN port on your neighbour's router is connected to the university network.

nworbnhoj, the DHCP Server on gargoyle is already enable. Removing the proxies from my devices only allows you to enter Google main page and not another websites, even youtube.

Every room has an Ethernet port which is connected to the uni's network that you connect your laptop to and which we connect our router to it through WAN port.

On the stock firmware, proxies were also used, DHCP was enable. Once I installed gargoyle on it, only the main proxy (which uses alphabets) was unusable and I get "unable to connect to proxy server" error.

Thank you.
