Adding DHCP lease wipe all leases

Hi,
I add my TL W841n configured with 1.7.0 and upgraded to 1.7.1. ALl was fine. The configuration survived to the upgrade and stability went from booting required to normal operation.
I add to had a device as a static dhcp lease, so I did it and found that all the DHCP leases have been lost.
I tried this morning to restore the configuration backup I had done before the upgrade and the configuration is wiped again, but fully this time and password has been reset to default factory password. And most of the langauge string show undefined.
Any way to work this around and have my original conf restored without redoing it all ?

Hi i am sorry but you will have to start from the start again my friend! Restoring backups is broke in 1.7.1
One thing you can do is do a reset of your router and then use WinSCP to put some of the files back in to /etc like:
/etc/ethers
/etc/hosts
This will put back all your IPs from your DHCP tadle.

Is there a way to get notified when a new version is released?

Ok,
It did it again tonight. I added an IP to the dhcp static leases table. Then gargoyle started acting on me :
- Internet disconnect every couple of minutes
- Very unresponsive interface
Did a reset to factory default but it did not change a bit.
I guess I will have to hard reset it to first boot, and set everything all over again.....
Just firstbooted the gargoyle, and all is back to normal.
How many static dhcp lease can one have before it all just crashes?

Recently a lot of people are reporting spooky behaviour like this.
The one thing they all have in common?
4MB of flash.

If one need a guinea pig to do some testing and optimization, I might wish to be one, since a stable system is what I am looking for.

If you wish to test, return to 1.6.2 and see if you experience the same issues.
I don't have any other suggestions sorry. My theory is image size.

Grammar is not so good but if I understand the above text correctly you don't want to do any testing but want a stable firmware?
As stated on the download link the current "Stable" firmware is 1.6.2
Even that version has small bugs.................
Thats is just the way it is
